I wasn't in Cuba when I shot this years ago. Quite the contrary. This was taken, rather quickly mind you, on some lonely road deep in rural Georgia. I spotted this rather unremarkable '55 Chevy in the back of a service station. I whipped my car around, grabbed my 35mm EOS Rebel (first gen. circa 1990 given to me by my father) and popped a few.
The photo, as it turned out, feels very similar to one of my father's paintings he created shortly after I was born. He was inspired by the photorealist movement and based his painting on an abandoned Buick. The colors are so perfect, like the great photorealists, it surpasses realism.
